Szombathely Boating Lake

The Szombathelyi Csónakázó-tó is one of the city’s most popular recreational and sports areas, set in a scenic green environment. Located near Kenderesi Road, it is only minutes from the city centre by car or on foot. Covering about 12 hectares with an average depth of 2 meters, the lake is fully encircled by a paved walking path.

Boats and pedal boats are available for rent, and the central island can be reached via a bridge with benches and resting areas. The area is ideal for running, cycling, Nordic walking, and family walks. In summer, visitors can enjoy the outdoor fitness park and sunbathing terrace. Children can play at the playgrounds or picnic areas.

Adjacent to the lake is a smaller fishing pond for carp, pike-perch, asp, and bream. Free parking, wheelchair-accessible ramps, drinking fountains, and a boat dock are available. The lake hosts sports and cultural events year-round, such as the Dragon Boat Festival and Midsummer Celebrations. Tree-lined shores, abundant waterfowl, and a rich ecosystem ensure visitors experience peace and relaxation. The Deck Bistro offers refreshments, meals, and coffee to complete the lakeside visit.
