Szily János Visitor Centre
Founded in 2017, the center unites the diocesan Library, Archive, Treasury, and Museum. It coordinates visits to Baroque rooms, the cathedral tower, and ground-floor exhibitions.
Named after the first bishop of Szombathely, János Szily, the center showcases his contributions to culture, education, and ecclesiastical heritage, including the establishment of the cathedral library and the Sala Terrena archaeological collection.
Permanent exhibitions cover diocesan history, lives of notable figures such as József Mindszenty and János Brenner, and Pope John Paul II’s visit. Visitors can also experience the cathedral’s 54-register organ and attend concerts.
