Óház Lookout Tower

Located just a stone's throw away from Bükk, the Óház Lookout Tower in Kőszeg was built on the foundations of the 13th-century Upper Castle, or Óvár. Over the centuries, the structure fell into ruins, and initially, a wooden tower was erected in its place, followed by one made of stone, yet neither endured permanently.

From the Óház Lookout Tower, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of Kőszeg, Szombathely, the nearby witness mountains, the Ság and Somló, as well as Austria.

The lookout tower can be reached on foot with a 4.2 km hike from the Kőszeg bus station. It's advisable to take the Szűk Street towards Temető Street, at the end of which you should head towards Hermina Street. From here, the parallel Z and Alpannonia red-marked trails lead straight to the tower.
