Historical Theme Park

The Történelmi Témapark is an one-hectare experimental archaeology park. Its highlights include a faithful reconstruction of a 1st-century Roman watchtower, a Roman kitchen furnished according to historical sources, and the Savaria Legio Association’s warehouse reflecting the city’s founding era.

Located in the Franciscan Garden, the park is the center for historical programs during the annual Savaria Historical Carnival. Authentic military and civilian reenactment groups camp here, and national and international experts demonstrate their skills annually. Exhibitions aim to educate through play and entertain through teaching. Visitors can explore Roman legionnaires and gladiators’ lives, early Hungarian lifestyles, horseback archery techniques, medieval knightly skills, and the era of Turkish wars. The park has welcomed history enthusiasts since 2006.
